Parking Near National Cherry Blossom Festival
The National Cherry Blossom Festival will be held at DC's Tidal Basin from March 20 through April 12, 2015. The Festival commemorates the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from the mayor of Tokyo to the people of Washington, D.C. in 1912.
Scheduled events include:
- Tidal Basin Paddle Boats. Mar 20, 2015 – Apr 12, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM daily. Take a paddle boat ride at Tidal Basin and enjoy spectacular views of the cherry blossoms and monuments.
- Blossom Kite Festival. Mar 28, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Kite fliers and makers will showcase their talents in a series of competitions and demonstrations including Hot Tricks Showdown and the Rokkaku Battle.
- National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. April 11, 2015 from 10 AM – Noon. Constitution Ave. – from 7th to 17th St., NW. The Parade will march for ten blocks along DC's iconic Constitution Ave. Giant colorful helium balloons, elaborate floats, marching bands from across the country, celebrities, and performers will be featured in the Parade.
- Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival. April 11, 2015 from 10:30 AM – 6 PM. Pennsylvania Ave., NW – from 9th and 14th St. The largest one-day celebration of Japanese culture in the U.S. with over 50 cultural groups, vendors, and food booths, and over 30 hours of performances on four stages.
